Router
A router is a woodworking tool used to rout out (hollow out) an area in the face of a piece of wood. It uses a cylindrical metal tool similar to a drill bit, but it uses the all the sides of the cutter to remove material allowing it to move in all directions.
Our machine is a Pacer 2512K series router. www.pacersys.co.uk
It works like this :
The working surface of the machine is a large flat bed with a vacuum running though it. This sucks through a 3mm sheet of MDF pulling the material down tight and stops it moving around as it is cut. The machine cuts just through the material onto the MDF which needs to be replaced every few days.
We can cut most flat sheet material such as plywood, mdf or acrylic. Anything more unusual, please give us a call.
To cut your job we load up your drawing onto the windows PC console that is attached to the machine and process the drawing according to the settings in your file (see How to do it section).
Once the drawing is loaded we fit the right cutter, load the material onto the bed and press go.
We can change the cutters over mid way through the job, but this does take longer and cost more.
